Yesterday, some members of the Kalinin Department of the Russian Organization for Monument and Culture Protection were visiting our parish. Yesterday, June 6, 2011, there was a small working meeting of some members of the Kalinin District of the Russian Organization for Monument and Culture Protection in our parish. It was organized by the department chairman, a deputy of the Municipal Council of the Finnish District of St. Petersburg (representative of the party “Yabloko”), Kirill Aleksandrovitch Strachov. The Guests asked to let them go round the church and the former cemeteries, and we were pleased to show them the church, some historical documents that had been found in the family crypt of N.L .Benois, and Count Potocki; we went inside one of the chapels to see the former entrance to the cemetery, showed one of two (or is it three — we don’t know exactly) tombstones which were preserved in the cemetery (also the former pseudo-gothic “shrine” by an anonymous personality, standing right next to the church, but separated from it with a fence). After the tour our guests needed a little rest, which was quite obvious (we tried also to prepare a modest meal), and discussed their work plans, in particular – related to perpetuate the memory of some architects who worked in the District. We hope to continue the good and friendly relations also in the future. May God bless their work and our parish!
